Turkish Süper Lig results 26/9/2020
Underdog's thrive, while defending champions struggle to survive.

You would be forgiven for wondering how Istanbul Basaksehir managed to win they’re only ever Turkish Süper Lig title last year. After three consecutive 2-0 defeats to start the 2020/2021 season, four defeats in a row if you count last seasons final game a 3-2 loss away to Kasimpasa. But the good news is last year Basaksehir only managed to pick up 5 points in they’re opening 5 games, thanks to the massive inconsistencies of pretty much every team in the Süper Lig there is still plenty of time to recover especially if the usual heavy hitters Galatasaray, Besiktas & Fenerbahce continue to underwhelm also.
KARAGUMRUK V BASAKSEHIR
The new teams in the Süper Lig currently lead the way with Fatih Karagumruk going top after they’re 2-0 victory over Basaksehir with new signing recently of Besiktas Chilean international Enzo Roco scoring just after half time. A second yellow card was then shown to Basaksehir midfielder Irfan Kahveci on the 83rd minute, and to put the result beyond doubt was Slovakian Erik Sabo with a goal in the 90th a powerful strike to the left of the keeper.
HATAYSPOR V KASIMPASA
2nd place after three games in the clubs first ever season in the Süper Lig still yet to concede a goal. Hatayspor again looked solid at the back with a good performance from centre back Yusuf Abdiog, Mame Diouf scoring the only goal of the game as Kasimpasa fall to 11th.
KAYSERISPOR V ERZURUM BB
Erzurum BB sit comfortable in 5th after a 3-1 away win over a lackluster Kayserispor still yet to keep a clean sheet but 6 points from 3 games is a good start to they’re second ever Süper Lig campaign.
GOZTEPE V GAZIANTEP
Goztepe & Gaziantep played out a entertaining 2-2 draw although Goztepe will be unhappy to concede a penalty in the 91st minute converted by Romanian international Alexandru Maxim, Goztepe remain undefeated and will play winless Istanbul Basaksehir next.
TRABZONSPOR V YENI MALATYASPOR
Trabzonspor got they’re first win of the season after opening day defeat to Besiktas and a 0-0 draw with ten man Denizlispor, Benik Afobe & Anthony Nwakaeme made sure they’re would be no slip ups against Yeni Malatyaspor with a 3-1 home victory for last seasons Süper Lig runner-up.
